Roommates are a thing.SHENZHEN, China, Sept. If times get tough, yeah of course you might need to move home, but never wanting to move out at all? Please. Too long living at home makes you a perma-child - sorry y’all, ya gotta get out and do hard stuff sometimes. I’ve got friends who had the same life experiences and opportunities that I had still living at home in their thirties because they don’t want to pay rent, and they are the most incompetent people I’ve met and their lives and careers have gone almost nowhere. Damn.įor what it’s worth, and I know that’s not much, I moved out during the 2008 recession when I was 20 and in college and yes it sucked - but I wouldn’t have traded those years busting my ass in exchange for living in the safety net of my parents home - the struggles made me the person I am and I certainly wouldn’t be where I’m at in my career. Stop fixating on things strangers say on the internet. You’re allowed to disagee and then just get on with your life. They qualified everything that was said stating it was based on their lives and experiences - of course they can’t consider every person on the gd planet on a show like this - if they did, they’d never be able to say a thing. If you’re gonna be triggered by things people who don’t know you or your situation are saying based on their experiences in their own lives that says more about you than them. Some of y’all really need to grow up/touch grass. Really showed a bad side to them, and that's been happening in a lot of their non-scripted videos recently, imo. That's just so antiquated and not realistic these days.Īs someone who is both a child who has been replaced with a step-family and currently living at home because I currently have no means to move out and live on my own, I took everything they said extremely personally and their takes were just not where it's at these days, it was just in really bad taste. I don't know why America has this idea that kids need to be moving out and have their entire lives figured out by 21. While Rachel might be okay living in a rat-infested basements with no windows while doing shrooms in a zoo (wtf was that all about anyway?), that doesn't mean everyone else should sacrifice their comfort and money just for the sake of "moving out and being independent." I'd rather live at home and save up money so that I can eventually move out and into a place that doesn't need to be burned to the ground. Settling for shitty accommodations for the sake of being "independent" is not okay. Rachel and Ify were basically talking as if the daughter should step to the side and allow herself to be steamrolled by the stepmother and the unborn child as if she isn't the dad's true family, which really broke my heart. The father has the last say because the daughter is not the stepmother's daughter to make decisions about. The "stepmother" crossed so many boundaries by asking the daughter multiple times to leave, even after her own father had said she could stay. In no situation should a parent's first child be forced to put their half- or step-siblings in front of themselves, especially when they have a legitimate reason for not being able to leave. This view is absolutely devastating to children with step-parents. They thought the daughter should move out to make room for the baby. Totally agree here- I had so many issues with their take on this situation.
